Minister: Russian metals producers, consumers show no worrying signs
GORKI, Moscow Region, Jan 15 (PRIME) -- The government has seen no worrying signs in the Russian metals industry so far, either from producers, or from consumers, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told reporters Friday.
“Until now no (reports of) such problematic challenges have arrived either from consumers of metal products, or from metals companies themselves,” Manturov said.
Devaluation of the ruble in late 2014 made producers of many Russian industries raise prices in rubles to reach the global level in U.S. dollars. Russian authorities earlier introduced an export duty on wheat and threatened to extend the step to fertilizer and metals industries if producers do not make discounts to local consumers.
Manturov said that the fertilizer prices have been agreed upon between producers and farmers.
The minister separately said that the mineral extraction tax for metals makers will not rise.
